We wanted our first blog post to introduce you to what Highmark Homes is all about, and to welcome you to the family – because we’re all family around here.
The early days
The seeds of Highmark Homes were planted in 1958, when our founder Gino first set foot on Canadian soil after a three-week voyage across the Atlantic. Gino arrived in Canada full of excitement and ambition, ready to find work and begin a new way of life.
In 1959, Gino had already found his way into the home building industry. He plastered his first home near Toronto less than a year after arriving in Canada. Gino had a natural affinity for building new homes, and he loved it. He felt an overwhelming sense of pride and satisfaction as he saw his hard work transformed into a beautiful house that would become home to a family. He devoted himself to perfecting his craft and to learning everything he could from his fellow tradesmen. He loved working with his hands, building things, and meeting the new homeowners who made up a community.
A family affair
In 1964, Gino used his growing expertise and passion to team up with his brother to start a home building company. They worked together side by side for decades, growing a team and building beautiful homes throughout the GTA.
In 2003, after nearly 40 years of hands-on experience, Gino’s passion for building quality homes was captured in a new identity: Highmark Homes. That same year, Gino’s children joined the team. That’s why our tagline is “Welcome to the family” – family is at the core of everything we do at Highmark Homes. It’s our cornerstone, our foundation. And building new homes is all about family – from our family, to yours. Each quality house we build will become home to a family and a safe, beautiful place for them to live, laugh and grow together over the years.
Onwards and upwards
In early 2016, our team built our 500th new home and proudly completed our 10th community. And in 2017, to Gino’s delight, his grandchildren began to learn about the family business.
The Highmark Homes story is one of family and teamwork. We’re hands-on, dedicated, and proud of our work. We’d love to meet you and your family, and to build you a quality home that you’ll love for years to come.
